I am currently on extended holiday in “balmy” Tikrit, Iraq. I am part of the administration’s new plan: send lawyers, guns and money. (I personally think someone was rockin’ out a bit too hard to Warren Zevon, but you know times are tough when they are sending armed defense counsel to run amuck). You may ask yourself how ever did this happen? I ask myself that very same question every day. Well, I received a Juris Doctor in May 2004, passed the bar that summer (the first “bar” I have passed in my life), commissioned as an officer in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, stationed at the 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii and have been serving as a criminal defense counsel since April 2005. I deployed to Camp Sun and Fun in June 2007 where I have been told I will remain until “all of our objectives have been accomplished.” Depending on who you ask, we are either a 1/3 of the way there or a 1/10th. Either way, I am hoping to be back for our 25th.
